Vivo V5 Hits the World With a QSD 652 SoC and 20 MP Selfie Camera

#

Vivo V5 is the latest smartphone in the company’s lineup and it was officially revealed today boasting an amazing 20 megapixels selfie camera and running on a solid Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 system on chip. Specs wise, the Vivo V5 is a powerful mid ranger with extreme selfie-capabilities, the feature that makes it to stand out from the crowd.  Today’s news confirms the previous leaks as the Vivo V5 is marketed as the ideal selfie droid courtesy of an impressive front facing snapper.

According to the official tech specs, the smartphone’s 20 megapixels front facing camera features Sony’s IMX 376 sensor and, as per the company’s claim, the image quality can be compared to stand-alone digital cameras when it comes to low lighting conditions. That’s a bold statement, but we’ll have to see it with our own eyes. The sensor is a big boy by any metrics, boasting an f/2.0 aperture lens and standing at 1/2.78” featuring 5P lenses for the ultimate selfie/portrait snaps. There’s obviously an in-house made “beautification” software included in the bundle for selfie obsessed users as well.

The Selfie Soft light function is another unique feature of the V5, which supposedly improves the image quality of selfies taken in low lighting conditions.  Hardware wise, the Vivo V5 runs on a QSD 652 SoC with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage capacity, expandable via micro SD cards. The display is a 5.5” HD 720p variety protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass. The smartphone comes with a finger print scanner and an interesting “eye protection mode” which is aimed at preventing eye strain in the dark by filtering blue light.

Finally, Vivo used AKM’s High Fidelity audio-DAC AK4376 in the V5, making for an audiophile grade smartphone if it ever was one, especially considering the announced price tag which stands at $260. The Vivo V5 will be available shortly in Asian countries, the likes of Philippine, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia and maybe we’ll get lucky too here in the US, who knows?
