Wire app for Android and iOS gains mixed reviews
Every now and then an app comes along that starts to quickly generate a lot of interest, and a prime example of this is Wire from Wire Swiss GmbH. The Wire app is a recently launched social networking communications and messaging service, and the co-founder and CEO of the Swiss startup project happens to be a co-founder of Skype. The messaging app market is a crowded one and Wire will be joining the likes of Facebook Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Line and many others. It’s early days so it remains to be seen if Wire will be able to carve out its own niche, but the amount of initial interest is promising.
Wire prides itself on being a simple app for conversations with friends and family by talk or messaging, and it also offers group messaging. Users can share pictures, YouTube videos, links, and Soundcloud music, and it syncs on phone, tablet or desktop for iOS, Android and also OS X, with a browser version to follow. It has HD Voice audio quality and complies with European privacy laws and regulations for security.
Wire for iOS released on December 3rd and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 8.0 or later. Version 1.0 is a free app, and if you want to download and install the Wire iOS app head to iTunes. Wire for Android is also free and is compatible with devices running Android 4.2 or later. You can get it from Google Play.
We’ve taken a look at user reviews in the descriptions on the App Store and Google Play Store and it’s a pretty mixed picture at the moment, with the user interface in particular really splitting opinion. The general consensus of opinion seems to be that the app needs a bit more work, so it will be interesting to see how the Wire app progresses over the coming weeks and months.

I think not making the app available on iOS7 is a mistake, I know lots of people that don’t want to upgrade because its awful so they’re restricting their market.
Downloaded it and already used it. and works like a charm. if you get to learn how to use it, it is no big deal. And beats the other Messenger Apps out there when it comes to security standards. And because it is based in Switzerland and not the US, the NSA has no direct acces and certainly not with secrete Governement court orders and harrasments! In this regard the only choice there is.
