Fines For Using A Mobile Phone While Driving Reaches $7 million In Australia

As more and more people rely on their mobile phones, it seems that the number of fines issued to people who are on their phones while driving is increasing. Despite warnings, people are still tempting fate by talking on their mobile while driving.

The Office of State Revenue has claimed that during 2002 and 2003, 12,812 mobile phones were issued, which totalled around $2,818,640. Over the past five years, however, the 30,782 fines issued amounted into $7,118,727(AUS), which was collected by the State Treasury.

That’s a serious salary!
