First WiMAX Network in East Malaysia from Motorola

A press release from Motorola states that REDtone, Malaysia’s leading alternative communications, multimedia innovator and service provider, has launched East Malaysia’s first WiMAX broadband services, powered by Motorola technology.

This first phase of the WiMAX broadband service enables high speed internet access and data applications for enterprise, covers the Kota Kinabalu business district.

REDtone, in an effort to expand its broadband services offerings in East Malaysia, established a new network using WiMAX technology, which ensures a lower cost quick deployment as compared to fixed line solutions.

Group chief executive officer of REDtone International Berhad, Zainal Amanshah, said: “The next generation wireless broadband network expands our service offerings. We are now able to meet our customers’ growing demand for high speed Internet connection and advanced data applications.”
