Nokia develop Symbian handset for China 3G standard TD-SCDMA

The world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia has said they are developing a mobile handset for China’s 3G mobile standard, Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) which will use the Symbian OS.

A statement from Nokia states: “Our goal is to not only develop TD-SCDMA products that can deliver outstanding user experiences to consumers, but also to work with operators, chipset providers, developers and all parties along the value chain to support the creation of a vibrant TD-SCDMA ecosystem in China.”

This new mobile phone will be Nokia’s first for TD-SCDMA and is expected to face hard competition from not only Chinese vendors but South Korean rivals LG and Samsung, and is expected to be launched in China by the end of this year.
