iPhone security flaw fix thanks to new software release

Apple have recently released a free software update that corrects a flaw in the iPhone, after a researcher showed all how hackers could exploit the vulnerability to gain control of the device.

Tom Neumayr, an Apple spokesman, said that “no one has been able to take control of the iPhone to gain personal information” It was Charlie Miller an analyst with Independent Security Evaluators that discovered the flaw at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas. The glitch is the first major vulnerability for the iPhone since its launch in June 2007.

Miller alerted Apple on June 18th, the update is available through iTunes, the software that delivers applications, music and also videos to the device. Microsoft have stated that they are investigating the Windows Mobile vulnerability demonstrated at the conference, and will take the appropriate action to protect consumers.
