BT to roll out fibre-to-the-premise tech to 2.5 million homes

British Telecom is going to double the quantity of homes which can receive next generation broadband and is part of their $1.5 billion investment in next generation broadband networks reports the Telegraph.

This investment by BT will bring speeds up to 100 megabits a second to roughly 2.5 million homes via fibre-to-the-premise tech, which basically means a cable direct to the user’s home door.

BT plans on rolling out fibre connections to roughly ten million households by the year 2012, however most of these will use fibre-to-the-cabinet connections that go direct to junction boxes on money roads rather then direct to the home. For the complete article hit up the link.
