China iPhone Sales Disappoint but Strong Sales Ahead says Analyst

Since the iPhone went official in China with China Unicom only 5000 have been sold and that is viewed as a disappointment; however the future isn’t bleak for the China iPhone.

According to an article over on apple insider, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has said although the launch of the iPhone in China was “soft” such a slow start has not made him adjust his prediction of some 9.2 million iPhone handset sales in the December quarter.

And Munster believes that 1 million to 2 million iPhones will be contributed by China to iPhone global sales for 2010. The iPhone sales rate of 1500 per day in China over the first 4 days means if it continued Apple would only sell 550,000 in its first year; for more follow the link.
