Coming free cell phone calls from Magic Jack
The cheap Internet phone gadget that has been shown a lot recently on TV has made a new version of the device that will allow free calls from cell phones in the home, this is expected to arouse some protest from cellular carriers.
The magic jack uses without permission radio frequencies which of course cellular carriers have paid billions of dollars for their exclusive licenses. Ymax Corp based in Palm Beach Fla said earlier this week at the CES that it plans to start selling the device in approximately four months time.
It will cost $40 which is the same price as the original magicjack, and also as with the original magic jack it will provide free calls to the US and also Canada for one year. The device is like a very tiny cellular tower for your home.
The magic jack is about the size as a deck of playing cards it plugs directly into your PC, your PC will need a broadband connection. Then the device searches and detects when a compatible cell phone comes within eight feet and places a call to it. After the user enters a short code on the phone the phone then becomes linked to the magic jack and all the time it is in range the magic jack will route the calls itself. This idea of making our home a mini cell phone tower to receive free calls is great. I am going to get one when it is available. It saves so much when money is hard to find.
about an hour after we hooked up, we got a telephone call for someone asking us to come and pick up their car. Apparentely, this number was previously owned by a car towing service. We continued to get numerous wrong number calls for the same reason; all wanting us to pick up their car. One of the calls came in after midnight. In addition to all the wrong numbers and the poor sound quality, the caller ID never worked and the voice mail was a joke. After about ten days of receiving wrong number calls, I contacted Magic Jack and was given a series of things to do to correct the problems.
HAVING DIFFICULTY IN CALLING NUMBERS IN FLORIDA AREA CODE 863. HAVE MADE MANY ATTEMPTS AND I GET A 3 SECOND BUSY SIGNAL AND THE NUMBER I DIAL DISAPPEARS FROM THE SCREEN. I WAS REFERRED TO A WEBSITE THAT OFFERED HELP FOR $36.00. THIS PROBLEM IS MAJICJACK'S. FIX IT. I HAVE PREPAID 5 YEARS SERVICE. IF I DON'T GET HELP THEN I WANT A REFUND.
I HAVE CONTACTED SOME PEOPLE ON FACEBOOK THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
