Samsung Epic 4G, Sprint’s First 4G Slider

Sprint is widening their 4G enabled devices with the addition of their first 4G slider smartphone in the form of the Samsung Epic 4G, which is said to be hitting the Sprint network “in the coming months.”

According to an article by Chris Ziegler, over on Engadget, the Samsung Epic 4G follows its predecessor the HTC EVO 4G, but with the addition of a slide out QWERTY keyboard and sports a 4 inch Super AMOLED touch screen.

The Samsung Epic 4G, just happens to be a renamed Samsung Galaxy S Pro, but just like the EVO 4G, one can presume Sprint wanted the ‘4G’ in the name to show the device can surf the 4G waves, and is to be described as a “Galaxy S smartphone.”

Other specs include a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash along with 720p video recording and a VGA front-facing camera, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, WiFi b/g/n, WiMAX and EV-DO Rev. A radios and Samsung’s reworked version of Android 2.1 OS.
