iPhone and Android Winning as BlackBerry Torch Sales Are Slow

Let’s face it; it’s hardly surprising that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 on the AT&T network isn’t doing that well when the new BlackBerry device has to contend with the likes of the iPhone and Android smartphones, and apparently the result is BlackBerry Torch 9800 sales are somewhat slow.

According to an article over on Intomobile by Marc Flores, and by way of Electronista, during the Mobile Future Forward even in Seattle, the president of wireless operations in the US West for AT&T, Fred Devereux gave the impression that the Big Blue was somewhat surprised and disappointed at sales of the Torch.

Apparently Devereux said that he was, “surprised there hasn’t been a faster adoption” of the BlackBerry Torch 9800, and that he thought it was the best BlackBerry to date.

The AT&T exec also stated that he was amazed that people were spending $200 plus on smartphones while hardly anyone was bothering to purchase a basic feature phone anymore. Well wakeup call for Mr. Devereux, smartphones are the future, basic feature phones are a thing of the past in the modern mobile arena. As for the slow BlackBerry Torch sales, shouldn’t AT&T have known it wouldn’t do as well as the iPhone?
