Android apps the devil for Motorola phone returns

Mobile phone returns, is all down to Android apps according to Motorola, does this mean Android apps is the devil for the company?

According to PCPro Android applications are to blame because certain apps are draining mobile phone batteries, this problem has resulted in 70% of Android handsets being returned. Motorola Mobility CEO, Sanjay Jha says that the Android Market is open there is nothing at all to stop poor quality apps being sold to customers.

Computerworld reports that unlike other mobile apps stores the Android Market is totally open, this means that anyone can upload an app to the store. We know that Google removes certain applications that may be malicious but this is not good enough.

Apps are not test when it comes to CPU use and power consumption, Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Technology told Computerworld that they are beginning to understand the impact that has.

Apparently the Motoblur skin can keep track of certain apps that are used and how they perform, a system like this can alert users on how the app will affect Motorola phone’s performance, then this will give customers the choice if they want to run the app or not.

Please let us know if you own a Motorola handset and if what Android app is draining your battery, your comments are very important.

Could it not perhaps be the well documented Gingerbread battery drain ‘bug’ which is causing users to return their handsets, rather than the individual apps themselves?
