Mobile Phone Recycling Can Make You a Record Breaker with O2

Every fancied the opportunity of being in the Guinness World Record Breakers book? There are many, many records breakers in the world such as ‘Lil Poison’ from New York who hold the record for the youngest professional gamer at 2-years old, or Chanel Tapper of California who holds the record for the longest tongue.

Well now if you own an old mobile phone or two, you can also get the opportunity to become a Guinness World Record Breaker courtesy of O2 UK recycling as O2 Recycle is challenging mobile phone users in the United Kingdom to hit up their local O2 store and donate their old handsets in a bid to break the world record for the number of mobile phones donated in the course of one week.

Currently the Guinness World record for donating phones in a single week stands at 6,130, and O2 want to break that record whilst boosting the 500,000 quid the firm has already donated to charity, so you get to help in that record breaking big as well as helping raise funds for charity.

The Head of CR, Environment and Sustainability New Business at O2, Bill Eyres says, “This challenge is a fun way of highlighting how we can help the environment through responsible recycling. We don’t take a penny from O2 Recycle as it all gets donated to our Think Big initiative to support amazing young people making a difference in their communities. Take part and become official Guinness World record breakers!’

All one has to do to help out with this world record breaking attempt is to recycle your old mobile phone with O2 during the week of Friday the 7th of October to Thursday the 13th of October, and you can donate your old phone by visiting your local O2 store, or calling 0845 550 0202, or request a freepost envelope from www.o2recycle.co.uk.

All profits generated from the O2 recycle program are donated to O2’s Think Big project sthat offers young people between the ages of 13 and 25 in the United Kingdom the change to get funding, training or support.

So if you just happen to have an old mobile handset lying around why not recycle it with O2 and do some good with your old device, sounds like a worthy enough cause to me.
