BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 rolling out today

It appears that although the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet isn’t doing that well for Research In Motion perhaps they believe pushing out the latest operating system for the slate might make the tablet appeal to more people, as the word is RIM is now rolling out the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 as of today the 21st of February.

According to the guys over at The Next Web the top feature with BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 is an integrated email client something Research In Motion was originally criticised for leaving out and the new operating system now comes with a unified inbox for multiple email accounts.

The new OS also features social messaging from Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook and extends to the Calendar and Contacts apps, and apparently BlackBerry App World has now been updated with a range of BlackBerry PlayBook applications along with a selection of Android apps that support the slate.

Also updated is BlackBerry Bridge, the thing that enables PlayBook owners to display apps from their BlackBerry smartphone on the screen of the PlayBook via Bluetooth and now enables the smartphone to be used as a mouse controller and remote keyboard.

BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 also now includes BlackBerry Balance for managing corporate data and thus should give the PlayBook a chance in the corporate sector along with a web based interface for managing smartphones and tablets within the corporate sector called BlackBerry Mobile Fusion.

For those BlackBerry PlayBook users that want to grab BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 the operating system is available to existing users for free as of right now.
