Video: Quad Core Cortex A9 vs OMAP 5 Dual Core A15

What we have for your viewing consideration below is a video comparison of the quad core ARM Cortex-A9 against the OMAP 5 dual core A15 running on a couple of Android tablets that appear to be using the Android Ice Cream Sandwich stock browser to load pages.

The Quad Core Cortex A9 vs OMAP 5 Dual Core A15 comparison footage was posted by Texas Instruments to their YouTube page and comes our way courtesy of the guys over at Anandtech and delivers almost four minutes of comparison.

The guys say that the unnamed Android tablet is indubitably the Asus Transformer Prime, whilst the 1.3GHz SoC is undoubtedly an NVIDIA Tegra 3 and in the footage we are shown both Android slates downloading videos, running through twenty pages of EEMBC’s BrowsingBench and playing an MP3.

The OMAP 5 Dual Core A15 slate zips through those 20 pages in just 95 seconds whilst the quad core ARM Cortex-A9 takes a whopping 201 seconds. No doubt TI will be showing off their OMAP 5 Dual Core A15 during Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona next week and devices sporting the OMAP 5 are expected late 2012 or early 2013.

Anyway I’ll leave it right there and let you head on down to mash that play button and check out this OMAP 5 Dual Core A15, quad core ARM Cortex-A9 face to face comparison…enjoy.
