It’s fair to say that many of us now own a mobile phone handset and probably wouldn’t be without it, but for one handset user the thought of other people using their devices with the level of noise made was too hard to bear.
In order to drown out of other people’s conversations that at times appeared to be too loud and irritating, a man from Philadelphia, America invested in a cell phone zapper that he purchased on the internet in order to jam the cell reception to silence their conversation.
According to msnbc.msn.com, an investigation got underway in order to find out who was responsible. Using the device on a SEPTA bus route, the named man Eric was tracked down by NBC10 investigators of who went on to question him. Eric it seemed was more than happy to use the purchased device, stating that he thought it was a good thing adding, “I guess I’m taking the law into my own hands and quite frankly, I’m proud of it.”
He commented on other phone users talking on their devices by saying, “A lot of people are extremely loud, no sense of just privacy or anything, when it becomes a bother, that’s when I screw on the antenna and flip the switch.” The device is reported in appearance to look like a walkie-talkie with a thick antenna. A button to the side is pushed when the conversation is wanted to be silenced.
Cell phone jammers are illegal when if caught using, can extend to a prison term and a massive fine. It was reported that Eric has now stopped using the device with the intention of disposing of it.
