Motorola Xoom WiFi Android 4.0.4 update, what’s new?

The tablet PC market is increasingly becoming a crowded one with numerous devices looking to grab some market share from Apple. Motorola’s Xoom tablet has been available for over a year now and it is now receiving the Android 4.0.4 update but what’s new?

The device has been first in line to receive important updates even though newer and more powerful Android tablets have become available, and according to TechnoBloom the tablet continues to get first dibs on Android updates. Starting from today the Wi-Fi version of the device will begin receiving the update, and most users should get notification of its availability.

As normal the update is carried out over the air and users can check for it manually by hitting the settings option and selecting About Tablet to check for available updates. There is not any major new features added with the update, but there are some nice improvements. Users will no longer have a slight pause of a few seconds when waiting for the screen to fully rotate, and now there is improved support for Exchange Servers in the default email application.

More improvements have been made to the camera application, which should provide owners an enhanced performance from the camera in taking still images and capturing video. Users will also find a nice new setting that will allow them to decide how long the device will wait to lock itself after you have pressed the power button to switch it on.

There are a number of other minor bug fixes that make the Android Ice Cream Sandwich experience even nicer. If you are the owner of the device it would be a good idea to check for the update yourself if you have not received the notification, and if you download it let us know what it is like.
