LG Optimus 2X Android ICS 4.0 update delayed again

Since Google launched the latest version of the Android operating system with the Galaxy Nexus, the rollout of the OS to other handsets has been a slow painful process for many, and today we have news that the LG Optimus 2X Android ICS 4.0 update is delayed again.

The updating of the Optimus 2X has been a frustrating process for owners of the device, as not long after the Ice Cream Sandwich OS first become available manufacturers begun revealing their plans for when their product range would receive it. As Pocket Now is reporting at first it seemed that the Optimus 2X wouldn’t even be getting ICS following some early comments on the company’s Facebook page that the update was not coming to the device.

Then LG deleted these comments and said that they hadn’t actually made their mind up if the handset would be getting the update, which was quickly followed in November with the news that the handset would actually be getting updated. The following month the company revealed a schedule for its handsets to receive Android ICS and the Optimus 2X was down to receive the new software during the second quarter of 2012.

Now though some new information has emerged that seems to mean owners of the Optimus 2X have a longer wait for the new OS, as LG Singapore responded to a question about the update and revealed the software wouldn’t become available until the third quarter of this year. This now raises a number of questions about LG’s plans for updating its handsets, as it makes you wonder if other older devices may be delayed.

The time scale for the update now seemingly means anytime between July and September, and a number of users have been posting follow up questions that may mean more information coming to light from LG.
