Global Sony Xperia GX spied on video

Quite often smartphone manufacturers release new handsets that are only available in certain regions so consumers in other areas are left looking on casting a jealous eye at the hardware. Just over a week ago the Sony Xperia GX was officially revealed and the company tipped the device was only heading to Japan, but now it seems a global version of the Sony Xperia GX has been spied in a video.

It seems there may be an international version of the handset in the works as GSN Arena are reporting that a couple of hands on videos have emerged, which show a handset that looks identical to the Xperia GX, except the NTT DoCoMo branding at the top of the handset. Instead as you can see in the videos below, the handset has the Xperia branding at the top instead.

Many will wonder why the Sony logo is on the bottom of the handset instead of the top, which is where it can be found on other international Sony handsets, but the bottom logo is illuminated as it serves as a notification light, and moving to the top part of the handset could involve too much re-working to the device.

Of course this is not concrete evidence that an international version is in the pipeline, as it could easily be a video of an early prototype. The handset itself is a worthy Android device featuring a 4.6-inch Reality Display that is powered by the 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor. There is also a new 13 megapixel Exmor R camera sensor and 16GB of on board storage.

Providing the power to the handset is a 1700 mAh battery, and the Xperia GX will come running the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. We will have to sit tight and see if anything official about the handset comes from Sony. Do you think we will see the Xperia GX outside of Japan?
