Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR Android ICS release imminent

The ongoing saga regarding the latest version of the Android operating system reaching the actual hardware has been picking up pace in recent weeks, but that is not to say it hasn’t taken far too long for a number of powerful handsets to be updated, and today we have the welcome news that the Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR Android ICS 4.0 release is imminent.

According to an article over at the Android Community it seems that the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update is finally coming to the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX, which comes after months of waiting and missed dates, but it seems now that Motorola and Verizon are ready to start pushing out the update.

Previously the update was supposed to be arriving on June12th according to some so called reliable sources, but the date came and went with no new software, which left many users frustrated. Now Verizon either missed the date or are trying to keep users calm by updating them with some new news about the software.

Verizon has begun to send out text messages to all Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX owners confirming that the update was set to drop soon. The message read that the handset will be updated soon and that the carrier will remove the Verizon Wireless Mobile IM application, as it is not supported by Android 4.0. The carrier advised users to download an alternative instant messaging application to use IM on their handset.

Multiple users have been receiving the text message on both the Motorola RAZR handsets today, and while Verizon didn’t reveal an actual date it must be about to drop at anytime, and hopefully in the next couple of days.

Did you receive the message from Verizon on your Motorola Droid RAZR or RAZR MAXX?
