LG tablet development placed on back burner

The world’s number four mobile phone maker, LG hasn’t really made that big a dent in the mobile space when it comes to tablets, and they haven’t really had much success in the tablet space going up against the likes of the Apple iPad, and as such it appears that LG is side lining their tablet development in favour of concentrating on smartphones.

According to the guys over at Slash Gear, by way of Bloomberg, LG spokesperson Ken Hong has stated in an email… “We’ve decided to put all new tablet development on the back burner for the time being in order to focus on smartphones.”

Hong also commented when asked about the Microsoft Surface tablet, Hong said the company “doesn’t see Surface competing with anything we’re focusing on at the moment.”

Currently LG is attempting to turn around their smartphone business with their Optimus line of Android smartphones after being overtaken by Apple last year to grab the number three handset maker title.

Previously LG has released the LG Optimus Pad, and announced earlier in the year the LG Optimus Pad LTE but that particular tablet hasn’t been released yet.

So if you are a fan of LG devices and was hoping to snap up an LG tablet at some point in the future, it would appear that you just might have a long wait ahead before seeing any new tablet coming out of the LG camp.
