Toshiba Thrive and Thrive 7 ICS update pushed back

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system has been in the news a lot lately as multiple devices are finally receiving the software months after it was first released, but the slow process is still seeing delays and today we can tell you that the Toshiba Thrive and Thrive 7 ICS update has been pushed back.

Originally Toshiba promised that the software upgrade would be arriving for the tablets sometime this spring, but as GottaBe Mobile are reporting the company is not going to be delivering on that promise. Toshiba has now confirmed the updates will now be coming sometime during the fall, which could be a full year since the OS first made an appearance.

The company hasn’t offered any actual date for the arrival of the update so owners could have another few months to wait before finally being treated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. This news will certainly be disappointing to owners of both devices, but it is obvious the updates still need some work to be ready for release.

Some owners may actually be getting worried whether the operating system will ever arrive for the Thrive, and in the meantime be stuck hearing rumours and speculation about it which is now common with Android software upgrades.

They will also have to make do with the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system that has never really offered owners a great Android experience, which has already been replaced by Ice Cream Sandwich which itself will soon be replaced by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean that could be announced as early as next week. There is a strong chance that it may actually be released shortly after as well that will only add to the frustration many Android users are already experiencing waiting for updates.
