Motorola Atrix 3 another step closer to launch

There are likely to be plenty of people waiting for news on the Motorola Atrix 3, aka Dinara, and today we can tell you that it appears to be another step closer to release. This smartphone has been kept pretty closely guarded and we still don’t have full specs or features but we now hear that the Atrix 3 has reached the Bluetooth SIG stage.

This follows on from the news we gave you a couple of weeks ago that the Atrix 3 had passed through the FCC and so a release appears to be very close now. We believe the Atrix 3 will be carried by AT&T as its predecessors were but this time around it’s thought that the Atrix 3 will be 4G LTE-equipped for AT&T’s LTE network, something that will please a lot of potential customers. The Motorola Atrix is also likely to be available in Canada and Europe.

News that the Atrix 3 had reached the Bluetooth SIG comes to us from Unwired View and the approval has a qualification assessment date of March 30, 2012, a listing date of June 25, 2012 and model number MB886. Although we don’t have full specs available yet we can tell you that the Atrix 3 is thought to run on Android 4.0 ICS and is likely to feature a Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor. An HD display is also thought to be included although the size is not yet known and as well as LTE connectivity it will also suit HSPA+.

No details about the price are known at this stage although Unwired View speculates the Atrix 3 will be around the $200 mark. As AT&T is currently endeavoring to lower the prices of LTE devices though, we feel the eventual price could be lower than this. Although a release date is still not confirmed we did hear rumblings of July 26 previously but it’s certainly possible given this Bluetooth SIG news today that the release could be closer than that.

We’ll certainly be following developments on the Motorola Atrix 3 closely and will bring you further news as we hear it. We’d like to know if you’re one of those waiting for the Motorola Atrix 3 to launch? If so, were you a previous Atrix owner, happy with the previous versions? Maybe you’re new to the Atrix smartphones but like the look of what you’ve seen so far? Why not send us your comments.
