Samsung Nexus S Android Jelly Bean update tomorrow (19th)

There have been a number of reports recently about if and when once flagship smartphones would be getting updated to Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and this comes as the platform gears up for the next version becoming available. Today we have news of the Samsung Nexus S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update that is coming tomorrow the 19th of July.

When Google first revealed the new upcoming operating system they also announced that certain devices will be receiving the update around the middle of this month, and now according to a report on the Android Authority owners of the aging Nexus S on Vodafone in Australia will be getting the update tomorrow.

The status of the software rollout has been listed as now approved by the carrier, and Google will begin pushing it out at 1:00 pm AEST time tomorrow. What is slightly strange about this though is that the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus are the first of two devices to officially use Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but will be getting it later than the older Nexus S.

While Google has yet to even release the Jelly Bean image for the Nexus S on its own website, this news will be greatly received by owners of the device in Australia, and should also mean that owners of the handset in other regions should also be seeing the update soon. The update brings some note worthy additions to the operating system that includes the Apple Siri rival, Google Now, along with Project Butter for that extra smooth UI experience.

There will be many owners of Android devices that are wondering whether their hardware will ever be updated to Android Jelly Bean, and we have recently looked at a selection of handsets that you would have thought will eventually get the new software.
