Jelly Bean possibly confirmed for some Acer Iconia slates

No doubt in the tablet space, tablet makers are rushing to be amongst the first to update their tablet offerings to the latest Android operating system, Android Jelly Bean, and it appears that Acer could be amongst those already hard at work on Jelly Bean for some of their Iconia tablets.

As you probably know, this year Acer introduced 4 new tablets, the Acer Iconia Tab A200, Acer Iconia Tab 110, Iconia Tab 510 and the Acer Iconia Tab 700, all sporting the Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

However, according to a report by Ubergizmo by way of Unwired View, Dutch website Tablet Guide is claiming that Acer has confirmed to them over the phone that the company will be updating some of their Iconia tablets with Android Jelly Bean.

Apparently, one of Acer’s main rivals, Asus has already announced that three of their tablets sporting Ice Cream Sandwich will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the coming months.

Unfortunately though, Acer didn’t actually come forth with just what Iconia tablets would be receiving the Jelly Bean update, and also didn’t offer any time frame as to just when Jelly Bean would be rolled out to their slates, but hopefully Acer will get round to an official announcement in due course, which naturally we will pass along as and when we hear.
