Galaxy Nexus on Verizon signal problem, update fix coming

If you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Verizon then there’s a chance you could be one of the many people who have been affected by a 4G LTE signal problem that leads to difficulties sustaining a connection. This issue has been widely discussed on forums and has led to some users seeking replacements, only to then find the same problem occurring. If you’ve been affected by this then the news today is promising as the Verizon Galaxy Nexus smartphone looks set to receive an update that will fix the signal issue.

This problem has been a major bugbear for those affected and there’s been a lot understandable frustration at the inability to keep a 4G connection for more than a few minutes at a time. Droid-Life reports that some Galaxy Nexus Verizon customers received several replacements before finally getting a Galaxy Nexus without this problem and it seems there are murmurings that the devices at fault are version I515.10. Step forward Best Buy as leaked documents have been obtained indicating an OTA update to fix this problem will be issued within the next few days.

Don’t get too excited about the possibility of this being the 4.1 Jelly Bean update though but it does look as though Samsung has found a way to at least give device users a decent LTE connection that doesn’t keep disappearing. The leaked Best Buy document talks about people returning Galaxy Nexus’s to stores and that Samsung has discovered what caused the issue. It goes on to say that the OTA update will be pushed out within days.

Droid-Life also reports that some Galaxy Nexus boxes at Best Buy already have a sticker on them saying ‘updated,’ so if you’re thinking of purchasing a Galaxy Nexus it’s worth bearing this in mind and making sure you receive an updated device.

We’re interested to hear from readers who have encountered the 4G LTE problem on their Galaxy Nexus phones on Verizon. When you receive the update to fix this issue perhaps you could let us know if it solves your problem?
