Lumia 900 playing nice with Windows Phone 7.8

Not too long ago a video surfaced showing off Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.8 update running on the Nokia Lumia 510. As you probably know, the Windows Phone 7.8 update is for older smartphones that will not be seeing Windows Phone 8. The WP7.8 update is expected to hit those older devices sometime in December or possibly slip over to early 2013, it’s not too clear just when at the moment.

However, another video has hit the net waves showing off the Windows Phone 7.8 update, this time round running on the Nokia Lumia 900 handset, and of course we have that footage for our readers viewing consideration below.

Unfortunately though, the Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Nokia Lumia 900 quick preview video isn’t all that long, and basically doesn’t show off anything we haven’t seen before, but it does show the resizeable tiles along with the new Xbox icon.

As you no doubt know, the WP7.8 update will bring some of the new features that are in Windows Phone 8 to existing Windows Phone 7.5 devices, and thus far, as far as I am aware, Microsoft has not yet put out a complete list of just what devices will gain the Windows Phone 7.8 update, but the company has stated that the update will be delivered to as many devices as possible.

However, those that do will gain apart from the above mentioned resizeable tiles, devices will also gain the ability to display Bing pictures of the day on the lock screen, a new Start screen, a new Office 13 icon, and a varied number of colour accents.

And that’s just about your lot with this, so all you need do now if you are interested in seeing the Windows Phone 7.8 update running on the Nokia Lumia 900 is to head on down and mash that play button…enjoy.

Any of our readers waiting for the Windows Phone 7.8 update to be released to their smartphone?

It was a total bummer to find out that the 7.8 update won’t be released until next year. Taking into consideration the past dragging-of-feet with this update, second quarter wouldn’t surprise me. I hope I am wrong! My Lumia 900 is calling out for a refresh!
