Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 vs Galaxy S5, specs studied

Samsung has a vast array of Galaxy smartphones in its line up ranging from budget offerings right up to the latest flagship devices, and today we are looking at the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 vs. Samsung Galaxy S5 as the specs are studied.

It has been almost two weeks now since the company revealed to the world the latest flagship Galaxy smartphone so we thought we would compare it to the popular Samsung Galaxy Grand 2.

Display
The new Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display with 432ppi pixel density, while the Galaxy Grand 2 has a 5.25 TFT capacitive touchscreen display at a resolution of 720 x 1280 and 280ppi.

Processor
Under the hood of the Grand 2 we have a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, while the Galaxy S5 will come with quad core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz.

RAM & Storage
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has 1.5GB of RAM with 8GB of built in storage that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card, while the Galaxy S5 has 2GB of RAM with 16GB or 32GB of built in storage that is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

Cameras
The Galaxy S5 has 16MP rear camera with 2160p video capture at 30fps and 1080p at 60fps, while around the front is a 2MP shooter capable of 1080p video recording. The Grand 2 meanwhile features an 8MP rear camera capable of 1080P video recording while on the front is a 1.9MP shooter.

Operating System
The Grand 2 currently runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, while the Galaxy S5 will be released next month with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS on board.

Battery & Measurements
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 2,800 mAh battery fitted into a form factor measuring 142mm x 72.5mm x 8.1 mm and weighing 145 grams, while the Galaxy Grand 2 has a 2,600 mAh battery while measuring 146.8mm x 75.3mm x 8.9 mm at 163 grams.
