Moto Maxx possibly making a comeback with Global version of Droid Turbo

droid maxx invite

We have some very interesting news today out of Brazil, especially if you were impressed with the Droid Turbo. Motorola is holding an event in the country for a new handset, and it looks like it may just be a global version of Verizon’s new flagship.

Invitations have started to roll out for an event in Brazil on November 5th, and the device shown appears to have the same backside as the Ballistic Nylon version of the Droid Turbo. No name was mentioned, but the device is thought to be a global version of the Droid Turbo that will go by the name Moto Maxx.

This would make perfect sense considering Verizon has the “Droid” branding and the Maxx line is known for their large batteries. Motorola has apparently filed for a “Moto Maxx” trademark in the US, and this could be really, really good news if you dreamed of owning a 5.2-inch Nexus this year. The Droid Turbo is essentially the Nexus 6 in its proper form sans stock Android, and Motorola is the company behind both devices.

While this is all still speculation, we’re going to assume (and hope) that the Droid Turbo is a Verizon exclusive in name only. It wouldn’t be difficult to throw the Maxx branding on same handset and give it a global rollout before bringing it to back to the states. This would give Verizon’s version some time to shine, and it would explain why we didn’t get a smaller Nexus this year.

Do you think that we’ll see the Droid Turbo go global with the Maxx moniker?
