Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 arrives in India with 20-inch 4K display

Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1

Panasonic may not be the biggest name in the mobile world, but their Toughpad line is second to none. The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 is the latest device to make its way to India, and has touched down with a hefty price tag of Rs. 2,40,000.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 has a lot going for it, and it’s one of the biggest tablets on the market thanks to a 20-inch panel. While we’ve seen other companies go large with their slates, it usually comes with a hefty price tag and with a mediocre resolution. Well, the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 is definitely more expensive but that big panel is anything but mediocre.

Panasonic went with a 20-inch panel for the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1and it carries a resolution of 32,840 x 2,560 with an aspect ratio of 15:10. Thankfully, you’ll have plenty of power to push those pixels thanks to an Intel Core i5 and 8GB of DDRL SDRAM. You’ll have more than enough storage as well with a 256GB solid state drive and a microSD card slot.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 is definitely large but still keeps a fairly svelte profile at 475mm x 334mm x 12.5mm. In terms of connectivity, it has Dual-Band Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, Gigabit LAN, HDMI 2.0, a port replicator connector, an HD front-facing camera, and a sensor Smart Card Reader. The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 will pull its power from a 4,770mAh battery and will run Windows 8.1 Pro out of the box. It’s also tougher than your typical slate and can withstand drops and scratches that would send many tablets to the repair shop.

The Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 isn’t going to be a tablet for everyone, but business-minded consumers or the enterprise crowd should appreciate the large, speedy slate. That said, the Rs. 2,40,000 price tag is pretty steep compared to mobile solutions with similar specs.

What do you think of the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Y1 specs compared to its price?
