The Speck VR Headset is a foldable mobile VR solution

#

We’ve already told you about two VR headsets that have been announced at CES, and now we’re going to tell you about the Speck VR Headset. It’s an upgraded version of the Google Cardboard concept, but is built in an interesting way that ensures you’ll be able to take your gaming on the go.

One of the cooler things about VR, especially mobile VR, is the when you show it to someone else for the first time. The look on their faces is usually priceless unless they get motion sickness, and it can be difficult to get your headset back at times. Lugging around a fairly flimsy piece of cardboard or the Gear VR can be a hassle though, which is where the Speck VR Headset steps in.

There are dozens of Google Cardboard-based headset floating around now, but the Speck VR Headset is one of the cooler ones you’ll see. It actually folds or collapses which makes it the most portable VR kit at the moment and it’s Cardboard certified so it should work well with most of the apps you can snag from the Play Store. Unfortunately, there are a couple of drawbacks as well, the main one being you have to have a Speck Candyshell Grip case to use it.

If you’re looking for a portable VR kit that’s smaller than cardboard or the Gear VR, the Speck VR Headset looks to be a nice option. That said, it will only work with the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S6 lineup at launch, so you’re better off buying the Gear VR if you own the latter considering the Speck is priced at $70 whereas the Gear VR Consumers Edition is only $99.
