OnePlus 4 Rumored for Summer 2017 Boasting QSD 830 SoC

#

According to the latest rumors, courtesy of the proverbial rumor-mill which never sleeps, the current OnePlus 3 smartphone will be replaced soon by the OnePlus 3T, but that’s not enough for the professional tech-gossipers, as they took a step even further and looking deep into their crystal-ball, they claimed that the OnePlus 4 will arrive next summer running on the mythical Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 system on chip.

Let me detail these rumors a little bit, to give you some perspective about today’s story. The OnePlus 3 is not the most popular smartphone out there and the company is trying to redeem its reputation in the eyes of its fanboys with the upcoming OnePlus 3T. According to a famous leakster (Evan Bass), the OnePlus 3T will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset architecture, which is the latest rage in SoC technology and it will cost 80 bucks more than the OnePlus 3, which currently retails for $400, give or take. You do the math and find out the price of the 3T for yourself, alright?

The next question is, what about the OnePlus 4? Well, according to the Chinese micro-blogging website Weibo, this new model will be released officially in June or July of 2017 and it will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 SoC. Initially, the QSD 830 was rumored to be produced by Samsung, using their 10 nm manufacturing process, but the Koreans dropped the ball and now the Snapdragon 830 will be produced by TSMC. I know, it’s a pretty hairy situation.

Thing is, TSMC doesn’t have just yet the technical capabilities for mass producing the QSD 830 on the 10 nm process, which translates into a power-hungry hardware architecture. Also, the rumor mill claims that the OnePlus 4 will come with a 4000 mAh battery,  the CPUs clocked at a whopping 3 GHz and also an Adreno 620 graphic processing unit inside. I know, it sounds almost too good to be true, but we’ll just have to wait for now.
