HTC Legend and Desire gets Rooted

The first step to hacking a smartphone is to get it rooted, and according to an article over on engadget mobile, the Android packing HTC Legend and the HTC Desire have now both been rooted judging from a report on redmondpie.

They say it appears both the latest Android smartphones seem to have taken less time than the average smartphone to root, but Paul O’Brien of MoDaCo has tweeted that he has accomplished the root.

This then means that the HTC Legend and HTC Desire are now open to hacking and it shouldn’t be too long before we see replacement ROMs hitting the net.

Rooting an Android handset delivers full access to the file system and thus allows the user to modify the handset firmware to whatever you desire on your phone such as custom ROMs, themes and apps, pretty much like what’s done on a jailbroken iPhone.
