AT&T Classes Itself Windows Phone 7 Premier Carrier

Microsoft must by now be fairly close to releasing their new operating system, Windows Phone 7, and apparently AT&T classes itself as the Premier Carrier for Windows Phone 7 devices.

According to an article over on Softpedia by Ionut Arghire, by way of PC World, AT&T announced this bit of news themselves in an email from an AT&T spokesperson stating, “We’ll be the premier carrier for Windows Phone 7. We haven’t given guidance on timing.”

Basically meaning AT&T will offer Windows Phone 7 handset but as yet don’t have a clue as to when they will do so. There have been reports in the past that the Big Blue has ordered in excess of 8 million Windows Phone 7 devices.

If that 8 million figure is true, then perhaps AT&T is taking steps for when Apple decided to end the Big Blue’s exclusivity over the iPhone, and intends on replacing the iconic device with Microsoft Windows Phone 7 devices, although Microsoft has in the past said Windows Phone 7 wouldn’t be exclusive to any singer carrier as it will become available to all carriers in the US, but no doubt it is looking like AT&T will play a big park in Windows Phone 7.
