HTC One X for AT&T blasts the competition

There has been a huge amount of interest in the HTC One X, coming to AT&T in the U.S. and today we have news that will please many potential customers of this handset as it looks like it has blasted the competition. Apparently AT&T HTC One X units are now being tested and all the news is looking very promising.

If you’re wondering about a release date though, although the HTC One X looks set to release in the U.K. in early April, the latest news suggests a mid-May release on AT&T but nothing is yet confirmed. The HTC One X also looks set to go to Sprint as well but that won’t be until later in the summer. Official specs and features for AT&T’s One X include a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor (outside the US the non-LTE One X has a quad-core processor), a 4.7-inch HD touchscreen display, 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video capture and 1.3-megapixel front shooter. It also runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, so you can see this is one very impressive smartphone on the way.

It now seems as though potential US buyers, who may have been disappointed in the dual-core rather than quad-core processor for the States, have very little to be concerned about as one person who has been testing AT&T’s One X (or One XL) explained. A report on Android Central tells of forum member Phonegeek who has had his hands on the One X for field testing. The forum thread tells of Benchmark tests where the One X for AT&T comfortably topped the Galaxy Nexus and other leading smartphones in “both Quadrant and Browser benchmarking tool Vellamo.” This shows the Snapdragon S4 processor has the extremely high level of performance that many were hoping for.

Apart from this the thread also shows a photo taken with the HTC One X using ImageSense software that also looks impressive. Looks-wise the phone is said to resemble the Inspire 4G although it weighs around 1.5-ounces lighter. It’s a shame that the release on AT&T looks now to be around mid-May at the earliest but we shouldn’t take that as read as nothing is yet confirmed. However, bearing in mind this latest news we think there will be an awful lot of people who’d like to run out and buy the HTC One X right now.

Are you waiting for the HTC One X to hit AT&T? If the Galaxy S3 arrives around the same time will you be tempted to that Android smartphone instead? Maybe it’s the One X for you and nothing else? Leave your comments in the box below.
