September tipped for new iPhone 5 & iPad mini

This time next week we will only be a few hours away for the start of the annual WWDC event in San Francisco, and while it is thought that Apple will not use the event to showcase the next iPhone, today we have news that September is being tipped for the new iPhone 5 and iPad mini being launched.

According to an article over at AppleInsider the company is allegedly gearing up for what is being called an “exciting” September with the launch of the latest version of the iPhone, alongside a smaller iPad model. Topeka Capital Markets analyst, Brian White, is in Taipei and attending the 2012 Computex Show and has spoken to his supply chain sources.

It was during these conversations that he picked on talk that Apple are planning an exciting September. It is being suggested that Apple will release the iPhone 5 during September compared to the iPhone 4S launching in October last year. It was again claimed that the next generation of iPhone will feature a unibody aluminium casing manufactured by Foxconn.

White stated that industry sources were “sceptical” about the chances of Apple using material from Liquidmetal Technologies, which Apple has exclusive rights to use it in consumer electronic products. He is also claiming that Apple may reveal a new iPad mini in the same month, which comes after reports recently suggested the company would be releasing a 7.85-inch iPad that would feature a display with the same 1024 x 768 screen resolution as the original iPad and the iPad 2. This would allow applications to be used without any modifications, and the new tablet PC would also be branded a Retina Display.

We may get some clues at next week’s WWDC event with what Apple are planning for new hardware, if as expected the company reveals iOS 6 there can often be clues found in the upcoming software.
