iOS 7 iPad appearance and device compatibility

Many of you will have been following the formal unveiling this week of Apple’s iOS 7. We’ve been bringing news on all of the various aspects of iOS 7 and today we have an image showing you the iOS 7 iPad appearance, as well as news on device compatibility.

So far iOS 7 seems to have been really well received, and it’s due for a public release in the fall. We’ve seen plenty of iOS 7 images shown on an iPhone, but if you’ve been wondering what iOS 7 will look like when it appears on iPads then Apple has revealed a glimpse of this on its iOS 7 features page. As you can see from the image below, both the iPad 2 and iPad with Retina Display look exactly the same and have the same configuration, although the image does show the new stock wallpaper.

However, when looking at the iPad mini we can see that the spacing around the icons and between them looks marginally changed, although the configuration is the same as with iOS 6. The same chart also shows all of the iOS 7 devices that will be compatible with iOS 7. The iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 all come into that category, as well as the iPod touch 16GB 5th generation and later, and ditto for the iPod touch 32 and 64GB models. Regarding the iPad, then the iPad 2 and iPads with Retina display (iPad 3 and 4), as well as the iPad mini will be compatible with iOS 7.

Alas, if you have any iOS devices previous to these, then they will not be able to get a taste of iOS 7. If iOS 7 releases on schedule then it’s likely that we will see the launches of the iPhone 5S, iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 around the same time, and of course we’ll keep you informed about those. Meanwhile if you want to read more about the next Apple mobile operating system you can check out all of our iOS 7 posts here.

Are you eagerly waiting for iOS 7 for your iPad? Maybe you’re disappointed that your iOS device is not on Apple’s compatibility list for iOS 7? Let us have your comments about this.
