Nexus 9 orders hitting delays in UK

There’s a fair amount of consternation today regarding the Google Nexus 9 tablet made by HTC. There were many people waiting for this tablet to be made official and earlier this month we finally heard all the confirmed details including an expected release date of November 3. However, some HTC Nexus 9 orders have now been delayed for the UK on Amazon and Google Play appears to have already sold out of one of the models.

Pre-orders are available at Amazon UK for the 16GB Nexus 9 in white or black with a price of £319 or £399 for the 32GB model. However, instead of an availability date of November 3, a shipping date of December 15 now appears for both storage options, obviously quite a difference! There’s no information about the cause of the delay, so we have no way of knowing if this delay will also impact other countries.

Interestingly though, the Nexus 9 is also available on the Google Play Store. We just took a look and the device is available to pre-order with the same pricing as via Amazon. However, the white or black 16GB model is still listed as “leaves warehouse by November 3”. When it comes to the 32GB version though, the white version is still available to pre-order for November 3 but the black variant listing says, “We are out of inventory” and doesn’t even allow buyers to pre-order it.

This will be a real blow for those who were hoping to receive their pre-ordered Nexus 9 early in November, although if you’re quick you may still manage to pre-order the black or white 16GB model or white 32GB model through Google Play for November availability. If you haven’t yet decided whether to purchase the Nexus 9 tablet you may like to check out some comparisons of it against the iPad Air 2 or the iPad mini 3 at the links.

We’d like to hear from readers about this. Have you pre-ordered the Nexus 9 through Amazon? Maybe you had already managed to order the black 32GB Nexus 9 from Google Play before the inventory sold out? Let us know with your comments.
