Sony Xperia Ion Jelly Bean update closer after certification

Sony has been busy in the last few months releasing a whole host of new mobile products to the world, but the company hasn’t forgot owners of older hardware and it seems that the Sony Xperia ion Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update release is getting closer after some certification.

Owners of the Sony Xperia S and Xperia acro S have already begun to receive the Android Jelly Bean update, although as usual the new software is not available to all users straight away for various reasons. This is not the first Sony Xperia ion Jelly Bean software to get certified though as last month the 6.2.B.0.204 firmware was certified but wasn’t released to end users.

Now according to the Xperia blog a new version of the Android Jelly Bean software for the handset has been certified with the build number of 6.2.B.211, which is the same version that has recently emerged for the Sony Xperia S and is thought brings some bug fixes for the previous version.

Only last week we heard that Sony had promised more news about the Jelly Bean update for the Xperia ion within two weeks, so hopefully this will now mean that the update will begin its journey out to owners of the handset shortly.

It has to be remembered though that Android firmware updates may get released by a smartphone manufacturer but it will then be down to individual carriers to then release it to customers.

Do you think the update will finally arrive shortly?
