Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update patch working despite confusion

It has been around a month now since Samsung originally launched a new firmware update for one of its flagship smartphones from last year, which led to numerous problems for many users of the device but the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update patch is seemingly working despite the confusion about the new software.

A few days ago it was reported that Samsung had resumed the rollout of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3, when it fact the only thing being pushed out by the company was a software patch for those that had installed the first release of the operating system.

A friend of ours that lives in the UK that owns the Galaxy S3 via carrier Orange had suffered all the problems with the Android 4.3 update that other users had been facing, such as poor battery life, freezing handset, and an inconsistent Wi-Fi connection among many other things.

Upon hearing news of the resumption of the update he tried to install the software only to be met with the message that the maximum of downloads had been exceeded. Now over the weekend he managed to download the new software which measures 23MB and since the patch has been installed the handset has been working much better than before.

His statement was that the phone was now much faster with the battery easily lasting a full day without the need for charging and that is with heavy use with 3G turned on all the time. There is now no lag either when waking the device up from sleep and performs like it did before the original update.

At the time of writing there is no sign of the update for users that are still on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but this is expected to arrive in the coming few days once the patch has reached all users with 4.3 JB installed on their handset.

Are you still waiting for the software patch to reach your Galaxy S3?
