Regular readers of Phones Review may remember our October report on a Pepsi smartphone. Now the Pepsi Phone P1 /P1s has been made official through a crowdfunding campaign on JD.com in China. It has a very affordable price tag and decent enough specs for the money, and of course it bears Pepsi branding.

The Pepsi Phone P1 /P1s is a mid-range smartphone and it features the Pepsi logo on the reverse as well as Pepsi style wallpaper. Early backers of the device only needed to pay CNY 499, (around $78, £51 or Rs. 5,165) but this is now sold out. However, you can order one of the next 1000 units at CNY 699 (around $109, £71 or Rs. 7,235). The next 1000 units will be priced at CNY 999, and after that at CNY 1,299. The goal for the crowdfunding target is set for December 3rd, so the total target needs to be met by that date for it to go into production.

Specs of the Pepsi Phone are a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, Mali-450 MP4 graphics, and a 5.5-inch Full HD display. There’s 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage that’s expandable with microSD card. There’s 4G LTE connectivity, as well as 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.

It will run dido OS 6.1 based on the Android 5.1 operating system. The Pepsi Phone P1 /P1s is a dual SIM phone (second nano SIM slot as microSD) and has an aluminum unibody build. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the rear and features a 2.5D curved glass display. It’s being made by Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment and measures 152.2mm x 76.2mm x 7.7mm, weighing in at 158g. It’s offered in blue, gold or silver color options.
