The already packed Android smartphone market has already seen some great handsets become available in 2014, and today this has seen a new addition as the HTC One M8 vs. OnePlus One specs and price battle commences.
Earlier today the OnePlus One smartphone was officially introduced to the world which looks to offer fans of the Android platform an exciting alternative to what is already available, but this comes almost a month after we saw the release of another stylish handset in the form of the HTC One M8.
Display
The new kid on the block has a 5.5-inch 1080p display at a pixel density of 401ppi, which compares to the HTC One M8 that has a 5-inch Full HD screen with 441ppi.
Processor
Under the hood of the HTC One M8 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, while the OnePlus One uses the same processor but this is clocked at 2.5Ghz.
RAM & Storage
The OnePlus One has 3GB of RAM with either 16GB or 64GB of internal storage that isn’t expandable, while the HTC has 2GB of RAM with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage that is expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card.
Cameras
On the back of the new handset is a 13MP shooter with a Sony Exmor sensor and 4K video capture, while around the front is a 5MP shooter. The HTC One M8 meanwhile has a 4MP UltraPixel camera with a 2MP unit above, and around the front is a 5MP camera.
Operating System
The HTC One M8 is currently running on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system while the Plus One is running the CyanogenMod 11S OS that is based on Android 4.4.
Dimensions & Battery
The OnePlus One has comes in at 152.9mm x 75.9mm x 8.9 mm weighing 162grams with a 3,100 mAh battery, which compares to the HTC that measures 146.4mm x 70.6mm x 9.4 mm at 160 grams with a 2,600 mAh battery.
Price
The HTC One M8 can be picked up unlocked for around £520/$700, while the OnePlus One will be available for $299 for the 16GB variant going up to $349 for 64GB. You may want to see a video comparison we had earlier with the Galaxy Note 3.
