iPhone Officially Gains Skype Video Calling: Videos
The word doing the rounds was that Skype was going to deliver video calling to the iPhone, but most expected it to be a while before Skype updated their iOS app with the feature, but apparently the wait wasn’t that long as Skype has now updated their iOS app delivering video calling to the iPhone.
Skype 3.0 for iOS devices is now available to download from iTunes, and features video calling for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch and will work over 3G and WiFi although obviously the iPhone 3GS doesn’t feature a front facing camera but the device can still broadcast via its rear camera.
We have some video footage of Skype for iPhone video calling in action for your viewing pleasure below courtesy of Chris Ziegler, over at Engadget which tests Skype 3.0 on iPhone to iPhone on WiFi and 3G and iPhone to desktop on WiFi and say that 3G to 3G video calling isn’t recommended unless necessary, but you can check that out below.

This is a good news for sure but the downside is that now skype has remove API access to 3rd Party apps
Re: Skype for iPhone. I downloaded the app to my iPhone 4 and did video chat with several friends in Alabama, Florida area using 3G on AT&T. I get 5 bars in my area and had excellent picture and audio quality! I have read where others have not. I am sure that †conditions †were right and may have problems under less than optimum conditions. Hello Dick Tracy!
