Tethering on 3.1.2 OS and hack called whiterat enables MMS on 2G iPhone’s

It has been revealed today in a number of tweets, by iPhone Dev team leader some hacks that may make your iPhone life a bit more interesting.

First up we have a hack called whiterat which allows 2G iPhones to send and receive photo MMSes. Apple’s update 3.0 only enabled MMS on iPhone 3G and 3GS models, great news with that one.

There is also a baseband hack that will allow tethering on the most recent 3.1.2 iPhone OS updated iPhones. The older tethering hack would only work on iPhone 3.0 software and firmware. It is reported that AT&T wont enable tethering until 2010. Source – 9to5mac.com
