Verizon Wireless SMS confirmations go bye-bye

Under: News Date: September 22nd, 2008

Apparently, according to a report from DSL, Verizon Wireless has been ending their SMS delivery confirmations on the quiet. You know the thing, the letter D or green tick mark when your text message has been delivered.

Apparently discontinuation of the Verizon Wireless service began on September 9th on a regional basis and should cover all regions by September’s end.

The word going round the forums is that the service is being stopped in order to reduce network traffic as for every text message sent Verizon Wireless had to send the recipient the text message data and then return the data back to the sender.
