Android should not expect iPhone type sales

Under: Apple iPhone, Google Android, News Date: September 23rd, 2008

T-Mobile launch the G1 or Dream, a new HTC manufactured mobile phone and the fist to use the new Google Android operating software; however there are a few experts saying mobile phones users shouldn’t be getting their hopes up too high.

Bill Hughes, an analyst at In Stat, says: “Any launch short of the iPhone launch is going to seem small, so I think its incumbent upon us to recognize that it doesn’t get like that very often. In fact, the hysteria surrounding the iPhone launch is likely never to be replicated in the mobile-phone world.”

Apple sold 1.12 million Apple iPhone 3G handsets in the first quarter, whereas it is expected that the Android will make about 0.4 million in comparison.
