What does the future hold for the mobile phone camera?

Under: News, Sony Ericsson Date: November 8th, 2008

Probable one of the attracting features of any mobile phone has to be its camera along with the ability to shoot and playback video, and megapixels are getting bigger with each new handset. So what does the future hold for the mobile phone camera?

Well the word from the Ericsson half of Sony Ericsson is that we can expect to see a 12 to 20 megapixels and capable of recording full HD videos by the year 2012.

Quite something to look forward to if they can pull it off and maybe this will spark off a megapixels war between manufacturers, which is good as long as image processing and optic run in line to support that resolution. I think 10 megapixels is the biggest so far, and that was achieved by Samsung.
