iPhone: Google Voice search app confused with British Accents

Under: Apple iPhone, News Date: November 20th, 2008

Apparently there seems to be a slight problem with the new Google Mobile App voice recognition search on the Apple iPhone; the problem being this app is finding it somewhat difficult to understand British accents.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the free Google Mobile App voice recognition tool mistakenly tool “iPhone” to mean sex, Einstein and kitchen sink, and a comment left by one iPhoner said: “Awesome job google. only problem is every time I say the word ‘fish’ it registers as ’sex’.”

Other British iPhoners are experiencing the same problems, a Scottish iPhoner was returned “sex” when speaking the word iPhone; A Welch iPhoner was returned kitchen sink and gorillas on their request; a Surrey iPhoner requested iPhone and was returned Einstein and MySpace.

Google’s website stated the new voice recognition system only currently recognises US English; maybe Google needs to work a bit faster to get a few other accents in there.
