The latest to partner Sonim for a rugged mobile phone is Land Rover; together Land Rover and Sonim expect to push out the new Land Rover branded rugged mobile phone sometime in 2009.
There will be two Land Rover rugged versions, the Land Rover S1 and the Land Rover S2 G4, while a 3rd version is in the planning to hit late 2009, and both companies expect to be contracting to some of the top carriers and have the Land Rover rugged mobile phones in 40 countries.
Similar to the recently released Sonim XP3 all versions of the Land Rover branded handsets will be able to withstand salt, humidity, fog, being submersed, along with transport and thermal shock, and also are supposed to withstand a drop of 1.6 metres onto concrete.
