Palm Pre with Sprint can not do voice and data together?

Under: Mobile Phones, News
Date: February 19th, 2009

No matter how much lauded the Palm Pre is, those who opt to use the Sprint version of the Palm Pre will fine not all is good, as Palm’s VP of software product development, Pam Deziel, while at Mobile World Congress 2009 has stated the Sprint Palm Pre will not have the ability to make a call and surf the net simultaneously.

Apparently the EVDO network some Sprint users use in the US is the reason for this, and it simply can’t run voice and data at the same time.

Over in Europe though the Palm Pre uses UMTS network which does allow voice and data simultaneously, which is good for us but not so good for Sprint customers over the pond.

How long will Sprint have exclusivity? If it’s only a few months, then people shouldn’t have to wait that long until other WebOS phones are hitting other carriers.
